Your First Mediation Session
While every couple is different, generally in the first meeting you will be filling our information for your initial divorce petition. This is letting the court know that you will be pursuing a divorce. One of you will be the Petitioner, the other will be the Respondent. in mediation, it doesn’t matter which of you is which. You will have to pay a court filing fee of $435 along with your petition, sign some paperwork, and we will file it for you. You will never need to go to the courthouse to file your documents, except for very limited circumstances. If that is a concern for you, talk to your mediator.
