The mediation experts at West Coast Family Mediationall have law degrees and extensive mediation training to guide you through your premarital and marital mediation. Our mediators provide online mediation across California based out of San Diego.

West Coast Family Mediationprovides an online mediation option for all our services, including divorce. There are many reasons why online divorce mediation may be the best option for you. Maybe you can’t stand being in the same room as your ex, but you still want the benefits of divorce mediation. We understand that family or job obligations make traveling to an office difficult. Whatever your reasons for seeking online divorce mediation, all you will need to begin the process is a computer or phone with internet access and a camera.

While much of our life is online these days, online mediation is a relatively new concept, and you may have questions. Below are the most common questions we have received about our online divorce mediation services.

Is online mediation more expensive than in-person mediation?

No. All of our mediation services, including online divorce mediation, can be done at the same flat rate. Online mediation may be inherently a more affordable option, as you save on transportation costs and may not have to take as much time off work to accommodate an appointment.

Can one person attend in person while the other attends online?

Yes, this is possible so long as both spouses agree. One spouse will attend the session in our office while the other spouse attends on video chat. This method works great for couples where one spouse is local and the other lives far away, in a different state, or even in a different country.

Can we both attend the sessions online?

Absolutely. We welcome both parties to join in online sessions. Please let your mediator know whether you will be attending the sessions in the same room or separate locations so we can set up the online meeting appropriately.

Can I call in to a session instead of using video chat?

We find that video chat is the ideal way to conduct online mediation. It allows us to use facial cues, and to prevent interruptions that can slow the mediation process down. However, we are flexible and are always willing to work with you to meet your needs.

How do I start divorcing my spouse online?

The first step is to contact us. We are happy to provide a free 30-minute consultation either in person, over the phone, or in a live video chat. During this consultation we will guide you on how to begin the divorce process and advise you on which of our mediation packages would best suit your needs.
