Where do I start?

If you are seeking a divorce, it is more than likely the subject has been on your mind for a while, but the thought of where or how to start the process is so overwhelming that you have put it off for weeks, months or even years.

Reality is that your life is short…stop allowing the minutes to tick by while you live unhappily…if you chose to mediate your divorce, the road ahead is not that bad – really!  And I am not just saying that…it is true.  Mediation is not the nightmare that litigated divorces usually are.

Motions will not be filed, discovery will not be exchanged, you will not be required to go back the last 10 years of your life and drag out every  check you have ever written.  Mediation is different.  And it starts with a decision to NOT declare war against the other side.  You must commit to participating in a civil process.  That is not to say everything will be easy…mediation is not easy…but it is REAL.  There will not be fabricated issues created just to churn more attorneys fees.

So what is the next step after committing to being civil with eachother…pick up the phone and call us.  Make an appointment.  You will find, right from the beginning we are here to make this transition in your life as easy as possible.  We are not here to judge either one of you.  We are all human, we all make mistakes, people grow apart, life changes…we understand that.  In mediation we are not here to discuss the past and assert blame on anyone, we are here to help secure the future…for both of you.  If you are on the fence about whether mediation may or may not be right for you, call us, we can answer any questions you may have about the process and how it differs from litigation…or any other concerns you have.
